What is az domain?

The .az domain is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Azerbaijan. It was introduced in 1993 and is managed by the Azerbaijan Communications and Information Technologies Ministry.

Registration of .az domains is open to individuals and organizations in Azerbaijan, as well as foreign companies with a local presence. There are no restrictions on the number of domains that can be registered by a single entity.

The registry charges a fee for domain registrations, with higher fees for premium domain names. The minimum registration period for a .az domain is one year.

Domains can be registered directly under .az, or under second-level domains such as .com.az for commercial entities, .org.az for non-profit organizations, and .edu.az for educational institutions.

The use of the .az domain is primarily for entities related to Azerbaijan or with a presence in the country. It is ranked 181st in terms of total number of domain registrations worldwide.
